The destruction from Hurricane Katrina provided an unforeseen chance to start with a clean slate and make a unique unified approach to tourism, casino hotel development and building the convention business, unlike any other major market in the United States. Be sure to join local leaders who will provide insight into the region’s overall outlook, goals and relationship with the gaming industry. Speakers include:

Did you know...

Gaming in Mississippi and Louisiana has rebounded from the devastation caused by Hurricane Katrina, generating nearly $5 billion in total gaming revenue during the 12 months ending June 30, 2007, or about 16% of the total gaming revenue in commercial US casino jurisdictions.

Mississippi has recovered enough to once again be the third largest commercial casino jurisdiction in the US based on gaming revenue, behind only Nevada and Atlantic City. Louisiana still ranks as the fifth-largest jurisdiction.

Monthly gaming revenue for the Mississippi Gulf Coast counties is now running ahead of revenues produced pre-Katrina, and the prospects for growth are significant with more properties on the horizon.

Southern Gaming Summit is produced by Mississippi Casino Operators Association, in conjunction with BNP Media Gaming Group.
